White House Spins Biden
04/26/09
The White House has figured out an ingenius way to spin Joe Biden’s gaffes. Call 60 Minutes and have Leslie Stahl do a fluff piece on the Vice-President in which the story line is how much the administration loves Joe just as he is. They don’t want him to change a thing. In fact, they value his shoot-from-the-hip style. He even has a great relationship with Hillary. This is priceless. Watch it HERE.

The Apologizer in Chief

When I was a kid I stole a pack of orange Bubblicious from my local Jewel supermarket. I asked my aunt to buy it for me and when she said no I just put it in my pocket. There was a dilemma when I got the chewing gum home. I longed for the orange flavor to be dripping across my gums, but if my mom saw me chewing it she’d ask where I got the candy from and I’d be busted. So I was forced to climb under my twin bed to chew the gum hidden from mom’s sight. How I savored that bubble gum. Unfortunately I was only able to chew it for 5 minutes before my mom came into my room looking for me. I was busted, confessed, and had to apologize. It was humiliating, but it could have been worse.
Imagine if my mom had gone to all of my neighbors, friends, and family to apologize to them on my behalf. How embarrassing! Shouldn’t these things be kept in the family?
So why did the President feel the need to tour Europe apologetically on behalf of every single one of us? Though he did give Europe a needling, the President went out of his way to tell the world that America had made mistakes and was arrogant. Maybe this is true. Maybe it’s not. We could debate about that for hours and no one would win. The thing that is inappropriate is Obama deciding the world stage is the best place to start this conversation. Why not keep this to the mainland? Keep it in the family. We can have a serious talk about US behavior among ourselves, but when our leader chooses to inaugurate this abroad it serves to end the debate.
